The MCPS Drivers' Education program is placed within the 10th grade health curriculum. A minimum of 36 classroom hours of instruction are provided to all students. The program is based on Virginia Standards of Learning which focus on safe driving attitudes, skill development and appropriate responses to hazards.
We encourage parents to become actively involved in behind-the-wheel instruction for teen drivers. Research shows that parental involvement can reduce the risk of automobile crashes significantly. There are several tools available:
